VC and PE Internship

Hello monkeys:
So, I'm a Freshmen in my second semester at a local community college.
I'm not in a major city--AKA New York or Chicago--the closest major city to me is Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
My goal is to break into VC or PE.
I figured the bestway to do that would be the same way to break into Investment Banking--via summer internships.
My question is, how do I break into VC or PE internships?
Should I just cold call/cold email?
Also, sector wise all my previous work has been in technology--a total of 1 internship and 1 other study I participated in a few years ago--1 at a startup and the other at Google Inc.
Should I aim for sector-based PE or VC firms in the technology sector?
(There is a growing tech startup community in Miami now and I figured the little work experience I do have, which is in Tech would count for something)
or does that kind of experience not count for anything since it was just an internship?
Lastly, since its VC/PE, would the internships require me to know stuff like LBOs right from the first day?--specifically if its a PE firm?

Thanks,

Jorge
