Growth Equity - 2023 1st Year Associate Comp Discussion
Hey All,
Figured we'd get a separate thread as VC comp understates and traditional PE comp overstates Growth Equity comp. Interested to hear data for 1st Year Associates:
- Fund Size
- Location
- Comp (Base, Bonus, Co-Invest, Signing, Relo, Sourcing bonuses etc)
- Expected hours
I'll kick it off:
- Fund Size: ~$3bn AUM
- Location: SF
- Comp (Base, Bonus, Co-Invest, Signing, Relo, Sourcing bonuses etc): Base: 150k, Target bonus (inc sourcing) 150-175k; All in cash comp ~325k.
Appreciate u kicking this off. Ignore title - im a first year associate after doing 2 yrs of IB.
Fund size: ~$2bn latest, ~$8bn AUM
Comp: $140 base, ~$120 cash bonus, sourcing bonus that can be as high as $50k+ but wont include since its rare to source a deal your first year.
Location: Tier 2 east coast (bit city thats not NYC)
Spectrum Equity? They pay light
What do these numbers look like for analysts?
Believe for analysts it’s inline with BB IB. Base is about 100-110k, bonus probably around 70k to 100k.
All in anywhere between 170k to 210k depending on shop
Seems high for analyst? If true, great comp...
Bump
Fund Size: ~$2.5bn, ~$7bn AUM
Location: East coast tier 1 city
Comp: $150 base, $110 cash bonus, sourcing bonuses are given out but as mentioned above, unlikely for a 1st yr associate.
Is this FTV? Can I PM you?
Fund size: ~$4.5bn
Location: Tier 2 east coast city (DC/BOS/MIA)
Comp: $170k base, $90-130k bonus
Relocation bonus: $5k
Co-invest / Carry: None communicated in offer letter
Damn that’s a super solid base. Sourcing heavy shop?
Solid base but obviously bonus shifts down to balance out TC (no complaints, but given size of last fund and trajectory candidly was hoping for less of a drop in bonus)
Sourcing not done at junior level
.
Chiming in
Mainsail?
Bump

Can anyone provide insight into how the comp scales as you go 1st-2nd-Senior->VP in Growth Equity. Feel like theres not much info on here about it. Also hours at each level would be awesome
Anyone have any insight on FTV capital - good place to start a growth equity career?
SF GE/PE Buyout firm Software / Tech Services
~$1B latest fund
$135K base, $115k bonus with sourcing bonuses (rare for first year) and coinvest Disappointed to see this is on the lower end compared to above
