GPA for VC, post-IB
For someone who goes through the standard two-year program at a niche, well-respected TMT investment bank... how important is GPA when it comes to recruiting for top/mid-tier VC firms? Any input is welcome, and thank you in advance.
Nobody cares once you have work experience.
I've heard people say GPA matters for PE recruiting, esp. at the megafund level. Is that less true for VC?
it's not so much that the funds care (tbh, some do, generally MF, but they are few and between), but GPA is such an easy (and lazy) metric to use by headhunters to filter applicants and since they are the gatekeepers to most associate jobs, it ends up mattering to a certain extend.
similarly, I'm sure that some of the larger VCs that are more "prestige" obsessed care (ie. Kleiner Perkins), but again it's more a matter of getting headhunters to show you opportunities than VCs actually caring
