Non-target Senior going for MSA to get into Banking

Hey,

http://www.razume.com/documents/13460

I wanted to if anyone could offer me some advice on how to break into IB. I am currently a senior at a large state university and will go into a master of accounting degree next fall at a pretty decent school (UVA, Tex at Austin, or Michigan). I am trying to find an internship that will look good for IB recruiting next fall. What should I apply to? I feel I am not competitive for IB internships so I was thinking hedge funds or consulting. Any advice would really be appreciated.

so you go to south carolina right? if you want your school to remain anonymous you should probably remove it from the razume.com user profile on top of the page.

anyways, you already have good finance-related work experience, and most kids going to masters of accounting programs have less work experience than you do. therefore, you should be competitive for getting IB interviews. just be sure you know your stuff b/c i'm sure the recruiters will throw heavy accounting technicals at you.

also, do you know for sure that the IBs will be recruiting summer analysts on campus next fall? I would have thought that it was more of an early spring thing. If they end up recruiting next spring, the most important thing for recruiting is for you to get a 4.0 your fall semester.

Well, I am actually looking for internships to apply to for this summer (2010) to lead into FT IB recruiting in the fall. I would really like to get something in New York that would be somewhat more comparable to IB work and show the recruiters I am capable.

As for the schools, I have been accepted to UVA, but I am still waiting on the other two.
