The mighty Cuomo has been brought low by MeToo

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/28/nyregion/cuomo…

Not sure if anyone else saw this but Cuomo who was seen as a “champion of COVID” by the MSM has been brought low by these sexual harassment claims.

It looks like many prominent liberal politicians are siding against Cuomo and lashing out at him.

What are your thoughts about the claims?

I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, I detest Andrew Cuomo; on the other hand, this is not a conspiracy of the political Right to get rid of him. The New York Left smell blood in the water with the Covid scandal, "nasty behavior" accusations, and MeToo accusations. This is Cuomo's left flank coming after him because the Left in the Democratic Party at large, and New York state in particular, is surging. Cuomo is seen by his Left flank as a weak moderate. For New York, if Cuomo falls it will mean his replacement (after the next election) is going to be in the AOC wing. That means every resident of New York will be worse off for it.

Honestly I hope they are worse off, they deserve it for having voted people like AOC into power. Hope the city goes to shit

Although it may be his left flank coming for him, his replacement won't be from the AOC wing. Idk if u saw the NYC mayoral primary, but it's very likely the next gov will be from the moderate wing of the party.

From what I understand, the NY AG is the leading contender. She is basically the AOC wing of the Dem party.

Doubt this would be the case since a lot of upstate NY is almost ~70-80% Republican by county/regions.

Yeah agree on NYC getting worse. AOC is crazy but it's disturbing how many people I know support her - often times, it's those in non business/finance professions who are "woke"

I've got my popcorn ready. Even Biden said he should step down. Talk about pot and kettle hahaha

He is very deserving of what happens to him. Hopefully the DOJ takes their nursing home investigation seriously, same goes for NY AG and FBI. Someone said it above, but the sad part is that the left is going to remove him and replace him with a true comrade. They view Cuomo as far right.

Not shocked at all.  Also deserves an investigation over the reports that are being confirmed about underreporting COVID deaths in seniors facilities.  As much as "it would have given the Trump Administration a reason to deny aid to New York" rings way too true, that's no excuse for not having transparency over something as important as this.

It is way deeper than trying to maximize the aid that the state would have received. I think one of the primary reasons for lying to or at minimum stalling the DOJ is that the investigation was coming from the civil rights branch of the DOJ and given the fact that seniors in these facilities are either incapacitated or otherwise, the directive would have been a huge issue for them. It wouldn't be hard for the DOJ to argue that this was a severe civil rights violation, knowing sending COVID+ patients into state-run facilities likely caused many housed there to die is the ultimate violation of their civil rights.

Beyond that...Some articles have outlined the amount of campaign contributions the governor has received from assisted living etc industry. They are in most cases his primary donors. The motivation of the governor to offer legal protection to the executives of these industries is clear. There was already a framework in place to protect the workers, doctors, what have you within these facilities. The extra protection offered to the executives to shield them from any civil or criminal penalties would be hard to explain.

A famous conservative said this the other day (and I'm often falsely accused of stealing his ideas), but I've believed this since the very beginning of the Cuomo nursing home scandal going back to April(?) 2020--the cover-up is worse than the crime here. I don't blame anyone for their decisions regarding Covid in Feb/Mar/Apr/May 2020. Nobody knew what the hell was going on. For all I know I'd have made the same call as Cuomo in March 2020. The issue to me is that Cuomo and his cronies knew about the fallout, went out of their way to cover it up, and the media went out of its way to ignore the fallout from said decision and then anointed Cuomo as the second coming of Jesus Christ. Cuomo, completely devoid of shame, embraced this characterization of himself, wrote a book about his incredible leadership during Covid (while the crisis was still ongoing!), and accepted a g-damn Emmy award(!) for his leadership. The lack of shame takes the breath away--knowing that a scandal was brewing, Cuomo accepted and embraced his own PR rather than acting with the smallest amount of humility.

As far as these sexual harassment claims, they'd be laughable if the standards weren't so absurd. The running theme in 2020 among Democrats (literally) was that Cuomo was a sex symbol. Memes, twitter posts, etc. heralded Cuomo as a sexy, sexual symbol. Now they're pretending that they're outraged over his sexual comments. Give me a f*cking break.

Sexual harassment claims are just political weapons at this point. First Kavanaugh, now this. I agree with Memberberries. This is just a way to end him politically so he's not longer electable/associated with the left.

Interesting that it's #MeToo that brings him and not the nursing home stuff.

Shows you that some people care more about woke stuff than they do what is right.

Well, given the latest report from the NY AG's office, hopefully we'll see a push from the Assembly to get rid of this scumbag.

To some of the people above.... a missed call on policy, even one that results in death, can be made in good faith (not that I'm saying the nursing home scandal was, just as a general point).  But "woke stuff", if you consider sexual harassment to be just another bullshit liberal woke thing, is always malicious and has no excuse.  I'm glad he's going down for this instead of the nursing home deaths.  He isn't the first and won't be the last politician to abuse people over whom he has a position of power, and I feel like making it clear to these assholes that they'll be held accountable may do more to clean up politics at a high level.

What?! You’re defending his behavior? Let him go down. He should have resigned for COVID response anyway. Glad to see the Dems holding him accountable.

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."

Have you read the report? Groping breasts and  fondling buttocks, unwanted kisses forced on state troopers? If you tried this, you would be in jail. He is lucky he gets to resign.

Most people on this site do not believe that sexual harassment exists.  It is all a grand plan to bring down men.   There were guys on here defending Trevor Bauer, a baseball player, who is on leave due to assaulting and raping an unconscious woman.

NY will elect Harvey Weinstein next more than likely. Really dumb group of voters (see: Bill de Blasio).

de Blasio may be the most incompetent human being on planet Earth and he is a literal communist. I wonder if the people of NYC aren't a bunch of gorillas dressed as humans.

They’re either:

- Too wealthy to care or be impacted by it

- Work as a blogger paid in oat milk

- From the middle of nowhere and don’t understand what NY was like from 70s to 90s

Actions have consequences. This man is disgusting and it’s ridiculous that he was even able to get away with this stuff. Why the fuck has he remained governor since the initial allegations came out?

Would do people who work in M&A seem to always post anonymously - associate - analyst - and now prospect...   This anonymous feature is absolute trash.

Cuomo, Rubin, Eppstein.. what's up with this rich white liberals going all woke and yet being caught being sex offenders?

There's also a number of blue/pink haired LGBT youtubers being caught raping kids or even their moms.

Liberalism seems to be increasingly connected with being a rapist.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.
