Yeah benzos would help. Are you performing at the theater?

Thoughts on propranolol? Just trying to control my anxiety level when I present during management meetings or when I lead client calls

I’ve never heard of it. I’d probably stick with Xanax, Ativan, Valium, or Klonopin. Also, practice your speech before you present and it should make it easier.

I think the issue right now is that these meetings now trigger anxiety (increased heart rate, sweaty hands, and etc.)

I always like to have a good hard workout in the morning before a big meeting or interview. It sets the mind right with positive chemicals.

In that case, I think you gotta go through some shit man.

The chillest and calmest person I know is my dad. He served for 7 years in Afghanistan and similar in special forces back in my country during rampant domestic terrorism.

I have seen that the more fucked up shit you go through, the more confident and unfazed you become of life troubles. Don't have to serve in war zones, but help humanitarian aid in an eearthquake ridden country. Helping pull bodies out of rubble gives you immense perspective on life, know first hand.

That's normal though at first. I  wouldn't try new medication before a presentation. You never know how it's going to affect you.

I agree with Carl that the real solution is to practice, be confident in what you have to say, and know that it's natural to have some adrenaline going but if you're good, that'll shine through. Over time, it'll become more and more normal and less and less anxiety inducing.

Yes but consult with a doctor if you want a prescription - I recall mine was fairly reasonable with this one. I straight up told my doctor about situational anxiety and stage anxiety and asked for meds. Think he responded saying "so you want some xanax?" and I was like "o.. well.. how about propranolol?" and he said "y-y-yeah okay i can prescribe that too..."

To my knowledge, propranolol doesn't have any comedown that some other situational meds may have. There's also no high feeling, you just feel normal as you would on any random day, which is probably why it's also non addictive. I think I only took propranolol occasionally in uni like when I had to do my music lessons final and sing a song in front of my class, but in hindsight and looking ahead, one could probably make better use of it in social settings, interviews, meetings etc
