Has anyone watched the show “billions”?

I thought it was alright, but I quit watching midway through season 3 bc the political messaging just became over the top. For those who work on the buy side—is it accurate in any way? (Also, I’m posting on the IB forum bc it is the one that gets the most traction)

For some strange reason, the directors of the show decided it is a smart idea to use new writers for every single season, and as a result the quality went dramatically downhill after season 1.

I think season 1 was the most realistic of all of the seasons. Example: When Axe goes to overthrow the CEO of Yum Brands, it shows a side of business not taught in textbooks. Axe won over a few people within management, and management also hated the current CEO of the company, so Axe was able to get his way and overthrow the CEO and current strategy of the company that in his view was eroding shareholder value.

Seasons 1 and 2 were both pretty solid. After the IceJuice sabotage, I feel like the show just started to wander a lot plot-wise. Season 4 was a low point with Axe acting kind of one-dimensional compared to earlier ones, and the Axe+Chuck vs Taylor tension just didn't resonate in the way that Axe vs Chuck does. Still working through Season 5 so we'll see if they've brought the show back to greatness lol

Also thought season 1 was quality and probably the only one which shows somewhat how a hedge fund operates (obviously still heavily dramatized). I'm still watching the last season, but they way they start adding hyped areas is getting a bit ridiculous (first it was quant/machine learning, and now ESG). I deal with both on a daily basis and it's clear the focus of the writers went to 100% character conflicts.
