Columbia's reputation in Latin America

Can anyone comment on Columbia business school's reputation in Latin America in private equity? I work in latam pe now, and want to go to school but want to stay in NY for a variety of reasons. I don't want to ask professional contacts for advice until I know I'm leaving my job.People in my office only know domestic PE and tell me I should really apply to one of the top 3 bschools.I know a lot of fund managers from top bschools that are not as strong as harvard or wharton so it seems that latam PE is more flexible that US PE.

Any thoughts?

I also work in a Latam-based private equity firm as a pre-MBA associate, so I know what you are going through. From my experience talking to industry contacts, there is more brand awareness when it comes to HBS and Wharton. That being said, Columbia still holds up very well (particularly in NY) and you shouldn't have a problem being a competitive candidate, both for US and Latam-based private equity firms.

Personally, if I were fortunate enough to be accepted to HBS, Wharton, and CBS, I would weigh more my fit with the school than each school's recruiting stats vis-a-vis PE opportunities.

Saludos.
