Highly recommend parkway gardens. But stay away from 63rd street. Other than that its a great place

I hear that some people find the intersection of 64th or 65th and St. Lawrence Avenue to be preferable to the adjacent block on 63rd.

Only certain places will do short-term leases i.e. Buckingham.

Could be worth it to look into a sublease in area near DePaul campus (Lincoln Park) if you're more inclined to live north of Loop.

Currently living on UIC's campus, subletted off a student. Paid a total of $2000 for my 12 weeks including utilities, don't sleep on commuting a little.

Why?

I mean, I can see not liking a particular property but isn’t Loop a central location convenient to everything?

Will likely be an easy commute to your office (assuming it's in the Loop), but place is a ghost town on weekends / after 8 PM weeknights. You can pretty easily get over to West Loop / River North from that location so not a huge deal but most restaurants & bars are meant to cater to workers and are closed outside of normal business hours. Also some of the more southern areas of Loop are where some of the major riots and other sketchy activity has taken place as of late (not to say sketchy activity doesn't happen anywhere and everywhere in Chicago lol)
