Charleston SC laid off after WFH - recommendations on best place to land a new opportunity?

Hello - I’m searching for a new opportunity after being laid off & would appreciate insight as to where is the best place (location and industry wise) to direct my efforts. I have 15+ years experience as a marketing director in global banks (Citi-NY & Santander-Boston) also Big4 (PwC-NY) & Fintech/SaaS (IHS Markit, TransUnion - NY). Thing is I moved to Charleston, SC from NY during Covid and find the firms around me are too small MM / family office to need marketing or are in RE / Multifamily and tend to discriminate away from larger banks. I’m willing to travel or relo for the right fit. Seems Charlotte, Atlanta, Greenville and Florida are better hubs for finance and tech - I’m interested in going back into consulting (NY client base was KKR, Apollo, Blackstone) or even expanding to PE, alts and asset management as well as the fintech ‘plumbing’ for those industries. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you want to stay in the south - I'd add Raleigh, big tech presence there.

At 15 years experience you are pretty senior + tough market to be a marketing guy, would look for jobs fairly agnostic to location right now. Just put United States in the search on LinkedIn, can also start going down the Fortune 500 list, refine a bit based on industry or absolute no on location, and looking on their careers site.

Also goes without saying but you should be talking to your network and hitting up any HHs you know
