Cristiano Ronaldo. Hands down, expect to all you pretty boy haters. Is Man U playing next week, BTW?

fuck that landon donovan bitchessssssss

Messi is tremendous...the hat trick vs Real back in march was spectacular. I was fortunate to have been at the game, with great seats. It was amazing.

Cannavaro is fantastic too. And on the goalkeeping side you've got Cech, Casillas, Valdes.

I guess I'm just partial to Barca....give me Deco, Xavi, Gudjohnsen, 'Dinho, Eto'o, Messi, Puyol, Marquez, Iniesta, Giuly anyday of the week...

Guys.... - Landon Donovan - ever heard of him...LA Galaxy would tune Man U.

Please, Landon Donovan isn't even the best active U.S. born player. Damarcus Beasley is.

As for best in the world, I agree with Cristiano Ronaldo. Even though he is a bit of a bitch (what non-U.S. soccer player besides Rooney isn't?)

What are you talking about - Landon Donovan is definitely the best player in the world. He is so fast and he scored 3 goals against Ecuador. I have never even heard of these guys: Maradona, Ronaldo, Beckham, etc... You're crazy. Its soccer not football- you probably think Joe Montana is the greatest "soccer" player of all time.

Shevchenko is the greatest! alrite maybe not the greatest but he's pretty good. I would say Ronaldinho > C. Ronaldo, C. Ronaldo is a huge pansy.

To paraphrase George Best, in regards to beckham...he can't kick with his left foot, he can't dribble, he can't head the ball and he doesn't score many goals...other than that he's not bad.

Rooney's amazing, but only the english reckon he's number 1.

Ronaldinho was the best one or 2 years ago, no doubt about that. He's just getting complacent, although he's at Barca I'd say it's kind of the real madrid syndrome.

Yes C Ron's a panzy, not my favourite character but still the best in terms of producing results on a pitch at the moment.

In the "other" category, I just have say Crouch. Because.

We'll see if C. Ronaldo can respond to high pressure on Tuesday. He still has a long way to go to be considered a truly great player.

Sorry Man U. fans, but I think everyone's take on C. Ronaldo will be different by the time the Champions League is over.

Nice prediction, but I couldn't help but notice that you never said who you think is the best player. It's pretty easy to criticize the opinions of others without stating your own.

a) Kaká b) Really? Note taken! ;)

Why has only one person mentioned kaka? His performances are always understated but just look at his results. C Ronaldo has ridiculous talent but still hasn't figured out how to play with 10 other guys.

All things considered, I'd put my money on Steven Gerrard. For talent, leadership, and the clutch factor (just look at Liverpool's results in major cups in the last three years) he's the best by far.

Good post, definitely Gerrard is a Keano of today and plays to the very high standards. The problem is, that in football, it is still flair and pure talent that is regarded in the first place (guys with flair makes football a game which is loved by billions). Guys like Gerrard now and Roy Keane several years ago are vital for the result and are actually the most important players in their teams, but guys like Zidane, C.Ronaldo, Henry and some other pure attackers make most of the show and thus provide people with good emotions and make them love this game

LOL @ TONY MEOLA. Anyways, as the name implies... Messi would be my top choice, followed closely by Kaka, Henry, and (to add a little flare) Van Persie.
