Rising junior with no internships Junior Summer

I’m a rising junior at a semi target, GPA of 3.92+, internships at an regional boutique IB and a PE FoF over the course of sophomore year. This summer (between sophomore and junior year) I’m working full time at the FoF I mentioned earlier.

I’ve obviously been recruiting for next summer (between junior and senior year) but it’s gone pretty awfully tbh. I only ever heard back from two places (superday at GSAM and first round at MoCo PFA), and I’m pretty sure I’ve been rejected from both of those too. While I can see how I messed up those two interviews, I’m wondering what I did that prevented me from even getting an interview at the others, as I felt like a pretty strong candidate. I’ve been trying to pass it off as recruitment just being harder as an international student but that feels like a cop out, so I obviously want to get advice on what to fix regarding my strategy.

I was also wondering what my contingency plans should be if I don’t get an internship for next summer. If anyone has been in the same situation, I’d love advice on what to do next summer. How do I end up in a good place after I graduate?
