Double interview??? Should I still go?

Long story short, I applied to a bank that only allows application in one region. I did the online application to the singapore office. I also resume dropped on campus for the equivalent US position.

Early last week I got a first round invite for the US position, they told us to register online. Figuring that a first round in hand is better than a possible first round for the singapore office, I told the US recruiter about my circumstances and she told me to just start a new account, register for the US position, then email online app support to withdraw my singapore app.

I dont know why they still havn't withdrawn my singapore app yet. In fact, the singapore office just sent out an invite last friday and told me to fly to new york for an interview. Should I still go anyway?

I'm obviously the outlier here, but my answer is don't go to both interviews. The instructions are clear and you even had a personal conversation with someone in the US office about how to handle the double application. If some low level administrative person made a mistake in Singapore, that won't help you if you do well in both first rounds and the offices start talking. At some point if you advance in both processes, your secret will get found out, and it's not likely to be good for you.

My recommendation would be to pick the office you're most excited about and to the extent that you can tell at this point, where you think you're the most competitive. Interview with that office and politely offer your explanation as to why you're declining the other interview. If, after being informed, the second choice office wants you to go ahead and interview, then you're good to go.

..i guess it was hard / almost impossible to see the sarcasm in my earlier comment.

it is a waste of your time to go and will leave a bad/weird impression of you if you do go. do what former md said.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.
