I am a high school student. I am asking this question because I need to make a decision on where I will go for undergrad soon. I live in Calgary and I know that UofC is a target for Calgary IB but if Calgary IB is declining I will try and go to school at one of the Toronto IB targets with the intention to try and get a job in Toronto IB.

Glad to hear you're thinking ahead.

Calgary IB is not declining and given it's the capital markets energy hub for the country it will continue to stay on top. Definitely a safe long-term pick.

I would base your decision on what you are more interested in, and your long-term goals. If you like energy and want to stay in Calgary long-term, then I would go to U of C. Calgary also has a different culture than Toronto from what I've heard (check out the RBC Calgary thread if you haven't already). If you have any inkling of going to the US, or are interested in another industry I would take the leap and go to one of the Ontario targets.

Go to a target in Ontario. The best and the brightest attend the targets. The education is far superior to anything you get out west. If you change your mind and want to stay in TO, recruiting will be easier.  Calgary teams will always be happy to take a Queens/Ivey/Rotman grad. U of C is not regarded well as a biz school outside of Calgary which will make it hard to ever move out of Calgary. A degree from a target is just worth more and says a lot about the calibre of student.
