Thoughts on Lazard London?

How is deal flow, culture, exits, etc.?
I see some posts here calling it the top UK bank ex-JPM, MS, GS, then there's other posts calling it terrible for culture and exits. Can anyone give an explanation to where it stands?
Also, if anyone has insights into their OC/FT recruiting process.

Strong history of reputation in London, good (but not great) deal flow etc. but recently for past three years being massively beaten by EVR/PJT for exits in MF/UMM. Laz has hardly any decent exits nowadays, 1/2 decent ones per year. Also losing a few seniors to competitors. Seems like there are only a few key people left.

Nowadays, the ranking is tending towards MS/JPM/GS --> PJT/EVR/BofA --> PWP/Laz/Citi/Roths ---> etc. all things considered.

Do you know why they randomly stopped having great exits? Possible that it’s more career bankers or does it have to do with their mostly British analyst classes?

I think above poster is correct - still obviously does good deals (Fremantle, hsbc, LXi, all mega deals in '24), though it's true there has been some exodus of seniors (think it's French office that's now running the show). Exits because most are Brits at the junior levels, by large aren't self-selecting for PE for various reasons (languages) etc - still, some included WP, APO, Citadel etc. Mixed bag
