London Student Recruiting - Bristol Tracker Report
Apologies if this has already been posted, but has anyone seen the report from the people who run Bristol's application tracker? Some key takeaways:
- 68 applications per offer on average;
- Students with spring weeks had a 2x advantage in terms of getting first-round interviews;
- The typical programme had a 1% acceptance rate;
- Some MM firms reported upwards of a 500% increase in applicants;
- 64% of candidates had already completed an internship, and 36% of the application pool was made up of final-year students who had not converted their summer internship
- 57% of applicants received 0 offers

Based on the highest ranked content on WSO, the report you're referring to sounds like it provides some insightful statistics on the recruitment process for finance positions in London, particularly for students from Bristol. While the specific report isn't part of the WSO content provided in the context, the key takeaways you've listed are quite telling and align with the competitive nature of the industry.
For instance, the high number of applications per offer and the significant advantage held by those with spring week experience are consistent with the competitive landscape of investment banking and other high finance roles. The low acceptance rates and the high percentage of applicants with prior internships underscore the importance of early professional exposure and networking in the field.
If you're looking for similar insights or detailed reports, WSO offers a range of resources, including industry reports and university recruiting reports, which might provide comparable data and analysis for different regions or universities. A shame that there is no historical data because I feel like this recruitment year has been particularly rough
Not bristol tracker specific but had a friend at a decent LMM-MM shop in London say there were over 750 applicants for only 3 SA positions at his bank. Previous years were typically no more than 200-250 applicants max for 3-4 SA slots.
Pretty much in line with everything I heard about other MMs
"The top 10% of candidates claim 40% of interviews and offers"
Just like anything in life, guys at the top are eating and everyone else is complaining
Report also states diversity candidates are 2x as likely to get interviews (also diversity was described as anyone part of SEO London, upreach etc which will include a ton of asian males which aren't real diversity candidates so number likely higher)
SEO London is a pisstake imo for this exact reason. It's been beaten to death but we should be trying to give equal access by class not by race, otherwise you get wealthy kids from a BAME background taking advantage
SEO does not require you to be an ethnic minority. That's one criteria. You could be white and from a low income background.
2 * 1% = 2%
if the average candidate only gets a few interviews lets say 3 first rounds, by doubling that and getting 6 first rounds you are massively improving your odds of moving the needle and getting one offer.
Is no one going to link this report lol

Is this how I find out I’m a top 10% candidate? 😏
Just kidding, give me a job!
Interested about the Spring Week data - are ‘converted’ internships included in this figure, do spring weeks add ‘oomf’ to resumes, is the knowledge helpful or is it just selection bias?
If anyone knows that would be excellent.
Spring week conversions not included
