How to recruit for 2025 FT
Wanted to reach out and see if anyone had advice on FT 2025 recruiting. I have an offer in an IB-related field (don't want to be too specific but think search fund, placement agent, commercial bank, corporate finance etc.) for this summer that doesn't have the possibility to convert into full-time. I did on-cycle recruiting at my low to mid-tier semi-target and managed to land super days at 3 BBs and a very cool buy-side shop but none amounted to anything. After that, I tried to grind for a boutique offer but market conditions were rough and most places weren't hiring. Ended up getting my current offer last minute and thought it was better than nothing so took it.
I wanted to see if anyone had insight on what the 2025 full-time recruiting landscape looks like as well as general advice for the FT recruitment process. I've been told that I have a good resume by multiple people in the industry (3.9 GPA, relevant clubs, well-formatted) but I worry that I will be hindered by my lack of experience. I was already asked by an asset manager I applied to in an interview why I didn't have an internship with a hedge fund or investment bank, which irked me far more than I'd like to admit. It didn't reassure me either that my career services office said 2024 FT recruiting was basically non-existent. At this point I don't care about entering a specific industry, I am just looking for a way to get a job in high finance. Once I'm in, I feel like moving around would be much easier.
