Burnt out of IB - want to move to CB
Hi all,
Does anyone have tips/advice on how to make the switch from Investment Banking to Corporate Banking? Looking at job sites and there are literally no CB roles out there at the moment.

I’m at Citi in the Corporate Bank and there is still a hiring freeze in place. Happy to answer any questions you may have
How easy/difficult would the move be? How transferrable would my skillset be, etc.? Would it be a move worth going for? Have you seen anyone go from IB to CB??

Would be pretty easy. The technical skillset in IB is much deeper than the technical skillset in CB. Comp is pretty good. Citi CB bonuses this year ranges from like 35-55k. Some teams are pretty sweaty, but others are pretty chill (I work like 45-50 hours a week, have had some long weeks but no where near 80-90 hours). Off top of my head I havent (i’m only a first year), but i’m sure it’s been done plenty. biggest downside to CB is sometimes it’s boring as shit, sometimes you’re twiddling your thumbs for a week, and all the admin stuff
I’m looking at PC opps, as I think the skillset is transferable and you can take more risk (using institutional capital versus main street capital).
what is corporate banking ft recruitment like? for context, i’m a senior with internships in fixed income and middle office and have like a 3.5.
