Analyst brought his wife to networking chat?

I finished my SA and got along rlly well with the team, have arranged to meet up with a bunch of them here and there individually. Today had plans to meet with an analyst who I was pretty close with, he suggested a bar. I wait for him in the bar for 10 mins and he turns up with his wife and baby son. Wtf? I didn't expect this.

The wife was hot as shit, looked closer to my age. When he leaves the table for the loo or whatever it's just me and his wife (and the baby if that matters). When i say i'm abt to get going he tells me to just go ahead, he'll take care of the bill. 20 mins later he messages me saying it was nice to catch up and to stay in touch.

One of the more interesting coffee chats (beer chat in this case) i've had ...

(This is ER so 'analysts' are older, this guy is 30)

yeah i'm in the UK so it was a Saturday afternoon. And yea fair enough, i know him well after working closely with him throughout SA so it was a catchup, just an interesting experience

Agree with the above. He just viewed it as a casual catch up and the logistics probably worked out better to have his family along, particularly if it was a weekend.

Bro how are u an MD?  Must be a 28 year old star MD lol based on your language.

actually, no. The term milf was invented in American Pie (1999). Assuming our pal here watched the movie aged 20, he'd be 43 now and still love milfs

I don’t see the issue here. You really think someone 10 years your senior with a family is going to carve out their Saturday afternoon to have a stiff formal convo over coffee to talk about the markets or whatever it was you were hoping for? I would be careful posting stuff like this. What makes you think this person doesn’t also occasionally browse WSO and now thinks you’re a weirdo for a making a fuss about this?

Thanks. Wasn't necessarily making a fuss, just that i've never met coworkers' families or during networking, didn't expect those 2 worlds to collide

I've had various SAs and Analysts over the years. When HR gives me a budget to go out with them in a social setting, they are completely OK with me bringing other people. If memory serves, one year they actually encouraged us to bring family/SOs. So, I think this situation is completely normal, nothing out of the ordinary.

TBH it’s a little weird that you call it a networking chat.  Not super weird but a bit awkward, like why can’t you just get a beer with your future coworker and call it a beer.

Hope you’re sure he doesn’t read WSO bc this only happened once in London this weekend.

thanks for the concern, and also the concern by another guy above. I'm very sure he doesn't use WSO for many reasons and from many interactions
