AM in Toronto
Hey Monkeys,
I attend a target business school in Canada think (Ivey, McGill, Queens). I had a pretty rough first year academically and do not have a strong GPA. I am extremely interested in finance and would love to work in AM this summer. I am open to any asset class: public/private equities, real estate, fixed income, etc. Anything to learn as much as I can.
I am hoping to cold email some alumni at smaller AM for this summer. Please let me know if you guys know any shops that would be suitable for this.
Cheers
It seems to me that there is a limited number of asset managers in Canada, compared to US.
As far as large AM firms, the big 5 have their own internal. But if you are looking for independant, the biggest would probably be something like,
Fidelity, Mackenzie, CI, Blackrock and State Street. Not too sure about Mcgill placement, but queens and IVy place very well into these.
I would add to the list the following companies: Manulife, Brookfiled, Fiera, GLC Asset Management, Beutel Goodman & Comp, Connor Clark & Lunn.
If it's Western.... how are you not drunk from hoco
