Accountant to PE Analyst

Hi, I am looking to make the jump from fund accountant at a large reputable HF/PE shop to PE analyst at a pure PE shop. A little background about myself:

  • I have a CPA

  • I am taking Level 3 CFA in September 2021

  • I have a Bachelors degree in Accounting from non-ivy league school

  • Udergrad GPA is 3.5

I know this jump is very difficult, but I am open to ideas, even if the route is more indirect. MBA is a tough path though, given that I have 2 kids and I am 29 yrs old.

Does anyone have any advice on making this jump?

Is there any way to beef up my resume and make it more attractive to PE shops (i.e. additional certifications)?
