Umich Ross vs Rice vs Notre Dame Mendoza
I got accepted into all these schools a while ago. I messed up on apps and these are the best I could get. I am looking to break into investment banking. I'm leaning towards Ross, but I feel like Mendoza has a similar level of IB placement as Ross and Rice is on the rise too (I think?). I just don't love the competitive culture at Ross, and as someone with no background, it might be really difficult for me to get into a Ross club/successfully rush for business frats. That's kind of why I'm considering Rice and ND because they are less competitive in my opinion and have more supportive alumnus.
Please offer some of your opinion on recruiting for IB or even getting into finance clubs/business frats for all these schools. Also, if anyone can shine some light on Ross' placement for incoming 2025 intern/2024 analyst roles this year because from what I have gathered on linkedin, it is not as good as prior years (?). I'm not interested in consulting, but I am interested in going into tech if I can't make IB, so I would also love to know which are good options for that too.
I would totally appreciate all of your help. I come from a complete non-finance background. I am not from America either so I don't get the opportunity to learn about all these industries as compared to many others.

Mendoza went crazy for SA 2025 placement
Current student, underperformed compared SA24 and SA23. Did very poorly at BofA and boutiques besides EVR/PWP.
Not true. This year had more MS, Blackstone, and Goldman IB placements than SA23 and SA24.

Notre Dame by a mile for QoL and recruiting on par with ross.
I am graduating this year from Ross, heading to a top BB/EB. I would suggest Rice or Notre Dame for ease of recruiting. People don't understand that Ross only places so well because its so competitive, with the grind beginning fall of your freshman year. I have close friends at schools like Northwestern and Notre Dame and they had a much easier time getting the IB than I did. It's just much less competitive. Ross might have more absolute placements, but that is because such a large portion of the kids here are hardos from the NYC metro area whereas kids at Rice, Notre Dame, and peer schools have more diverse interests.
Completely agreed. Same situation with Stern. That’s why ND, NU and Washu like smaller ib communities are great to recruit out of.

Alot will say ross due to its sheer numbers but rice and nd but are much less competitive.
if you trust yourself and think you can be top at ross, go for it. Otherwise,
rice if you want to be in houston. They own that place practically, nd if you want chi
rice placed extremely well at all major houston banks. if you're interested in energy at all, rice is the move
everyone gets a banking job out of Mendoza if they want one. (Mendoza alum)
