Typical Intern Retention Rates?
I’ve been looking online, and can’t really seem to find anything about RE - most people talk about IB or anything to do with BBs. What is the typical hiring rate for interns in CRE? Is it like IB at the major banks where people claim “80/90 percent of the class gets hired” or is it on the much lower side? I figured it would be the latter as I’m a natural born pessimist but would like more info
I interned at a top producing brokerage team in capital markets. I was the only intern to receive a return offer out of the three of us. I’m assuming there is usually more return offers when transaction volume is a higher.
Yeah makes perfect sense for the brokerage side. I wonder what do you think is the difference between front office and back office roles like asset management in terms of low deal periods?
It’s typically on an as-needed basis rather than a certain rate for RE, in my experience.
Some people get asked to come back since they like them AND they need them. Some don’t get an offer even though they had a good internship and would be a great fit, since there aren’t any open seats. It happens.
I was an intern and got hired permanently, then they hired more people that weren’t interns, then they didn’t hire the next intern that came after me even though they were great. All within a span of a year.
