ECM IB Analysts, what are your hours like? May 2024
Thinking about going from my M&A group to a different banks ECM team. To be honest, I have been working 95-105 hours a week for like 2 years straight now and just want an "easier" role (no offense). I have heard of some ECM people working like 50-65 hours and is what I want next and to just collect checks. How many hours a week are you working, what time do you log in and off, and is there weekend work? How are you viewing the ECM market right now, is it busier or still kind of dead? Thanks guys.
It is not true - you work 8-12am and busy time even more.
There is less work on weekends
Not true
8-6 on slow days
8-8 on average day
8-very late when it’s bad
Almost no Saturday work
Sundays either no work, or a few hours. When it’s very bad when leading a deal or multiple then all day Sunday
Appreciate the response. Thank you so much.
Depends on bank and industry. Ask the analysts in the group you’re considering moving to
Generally at my bank they are in the office by 8am and leave around 8-9pm after eating dinner. Mon - Thurs I’d say they go home and work until 11ish but some days maybe not. Fridays off by 7pm latest. Saturday no work. Sunday likely a few hours with a full day once a month. So worst case 80 hrs but typically 65ish.
Thank you.
