Tanking GPA hard classes after getting an offer

Just earned an HF offer for '25. There are a lot of hard classes at my school (pure math and also theoretical ML) that I want to take, but I'm afraid my GPA will tank (think 3.9 --> ~3.5). If I challenge myself with harder classes and earn a smattering of Bs, would HFs rescind my offer?

Some funds care more than others. Citadel and DE Shaw still ask for a GPA even for experienced hires. A "low" GPA could be an automatic disqualifier on a resume scan. I would say be mindful of where you aim to move in your early career. I had the opportunity to take some extra masters level classes late in my undergrad but my advisor recommended against it to protect my GPA. Looking back, I wish I took the classes although my GPA was low anyway.

Ah fair point. What would you say the minimum GPA would be to pass those filters? 3.7?
