Curious what watches y'all see on the street. I've got an MD that wears a Rolex Daytona and another that wears that fucking calculator watch. What have y'all seen? Any recommendations for good watches for analysts?

I got a tudor after my first year bonus, was like 3k and I still love it. Not a massive watch guy / didn’t want anything too flashy but something like omega, tudor or IWC works well.
Not many analysts wear Rolex at my firm but if you got one already rock that shit

Analyst in my group are usually rocking Omega or Tudor. Everyone else is big on Rolex. One of my women MD’s has a couple of nice two tone Rolex’s, very baller. Also seen some seniors rock vintage Rolex’s they’ve had since their analyst year.

Lots of TAG Heuer at my bank. I think anything between a Seiko and a Datejust is fine for analysts and nobody will really notice anyway. As long as you enjoy wearing it and it’s not like 100 grand you’re good. I wear a microbrand GMT and a few Tissots

It's a tech bank so actually more common for people to just wear an apple watch. Not a fan of TAGs either. Grand Seiko is next on the list. Got to try on a spring drive and was really impressed. Would love to see a Glashütte or Lange in person as well
Orient (bambino) is a great starter watch. I have one and I’ve seen a couple of analysts wearing them too.
It was designed in Italy and engineered in Japan so it looks nice and works well.
MD flexes an AP royal oak for client meetings. Pretty legendary move
I always thought of royal oak as associate/VP focused watch. A JLC or Vacheron seems more MD focused

I do think so, unfortunately. Also get better taste in watches
Generally, JLC isn't as expensive as APs or Vacheron although not because of any technical deficiency. Perhaps you meant ALS (A Lange)? At any rate, Royal Oaks are trading far above what they used to so a stretch for most VPs.
Can I get some honest insight here --
Is wearing a Rolex as an analyst actually frowned upon? Or is it mostly just undergrads and interns on this forum that spread that notion?
I'm not talking about the more "elite" Rolexes such as Day Dates, Daytonas, or anything solid gold or with diamonds. I'm talking stainless Datejusts, Subs, OPs, Explorers, etc. They are pretty subtle and wouldn't bat most eyes unless you're a watch person. Perhaps they were a college graduation gift, maybe you even bought it yourself.
I don't think it's a great look for day 1, but do people really care? At my firm, I didn't see any analysts with Rolexes. To be fair, there's a very relaxed dress culture so my firm isn't a great example.

I think it’s pretty simple. If you are a hard worker and competent and your peers respect you, no one will remotely care if you have a Rolex (especially a more entry level model) as an Analyst. On the other hand, if you are lazy and difficult to work with and appear more attached to the image of being in IB than the job itself, it can come off the wrong way. Still, I personally would tend to err on the side of conservatism and wait a few months until you’ve established a good reputation for yourself before breaking it out.
I love my sub date. People really don't care as long as you're not an a**hole (as with most things in life)..
Now a good time to buy a Rolex in Europe? Seems like a good deal given strength of dollar
There’s an import tax on goods above $xxxx so it doesn’t make a ton of sense to buy from Europe or Japan yet

No, because you still can't get one from the dealer. They'll only sell to local clients on their waiting list unless they happen to have some bedazzled POS in stock that Lil Jon would wear and would cost you $150k
MD wearing a calculator watch is elite tier trolling. I respect that more than Patek / AP / whatever
I have one that rocks the Mickey Mouse hands. It's quite a trip.
Feel that I can add some perspective now that I'm late 20s. Obviously some personal opinion...but don't buy the watch. (1) that money can go toward a long list of better things in your 20s (2) the people you'd impress with a nice watch are not the kind of people whos opinion you should care about

Of my two MDs, one only wear an Apple watch (but is otherwise dapper as heck) and the other one doesn't wear a watch at all. Had honestly expected better of them tbh.
Daily work watch is a simple Vacheron 3 hander with date. Unless you are in the watch game literally no one will recognize it from a Tissot.
Have a much larger collection of AP's and Rolexes that I keep for the weekend.
I can't wrap my head around dropping 5 figures on something that there's a decent chance I'm going to leave on a hotel dresser.
I wear a simple watch daily
Have a couple of nice vintage ones (bought relatively cheaply, could sell for a good profit right now even if they need a bit of maintenance) at home but dont bother anymore when i go out
