Summer Analyst Overdressing Concern

Incoming summer analyst at a NYC BB IBD and hope to get some insights on the dress code.

Let's say if my team leans towards more casual outfits, are full suits (dress shirt and blazer, no tie) still the way to go, or is that too formal?

Also, if vests are commonly worn by my analysts and associates, is it cool if I wear one too instead of a blazer?

Thanks guys!

Generally, I'd add that it's better to be overdressed to an extent (and take off a jacket or something) than underdressed and be unable to change that once you turn up. With weather in mind if you still want to wear a blazer for a day or two to test the waters, I'd say definitely pick up something like perspirex, honestly a life changer. Congrats and the offer and good luck

The best rule of thumb is to gradually transition into how most of your office dress. This could mean week one is a full suit no tie, week 2is a dress shirt and pants, week 3 is dress shirt and more casual pants, week 4 maybe rock a polo if they are common with the team. Then once you get to the point where you as an intern are slightly more formal than the analyst and associates you stop and just stay there
