Switching from banking to consulting

hi everyone,

im looking to move from my current m&a gig to MBB or tier 2 consulting. I would appreciate if you could share your insight into how you made this transition?

specifically im wondering:

1) how did you manage case study prep with work? Im thinking of resigning from my current job to work on case study prep

2) how does one leverage the skills / strengths gained from banking to consulting interviews & case studies

thank you all

What kind of consulting? If you’re open to staying in the finance realm, I’d urge you to consider RX consulting. Plenty of former bankers in the field

I cannot overemphasize what a bad idea it would be to quit your current job to case prep. MBB firms aren’t hiring at anything close to regular levels for OCR (read: the normal pipeline). Lateral hiring is essentially nonexistent right now. I’m sorry to be forthright, but you’ve chosen the worst time to try and lateral into consulting. Either wait it out or give it your best shot, but definitely don’t resign until you’ve lined up an offer and hand it in hand.
