Joining a specific group within a BB AM?

I am interested in joining the secondaries team within GS.

Do I get to pick a team during say an internship?

Am I judged for group specific skills (e.g. private equity secondaries) or general non-secondary asset management skills (e.g. equity research) when recruiting? How does this apply to my degree (studying Maths and Computer Science)?

A.k.a how can I get a grad role in secondaries in an AM.

Thanks! :)
