Regarding IB Hours - Any of You Wish You Went Into S&T?
Yes, we’ve all heard about the better optionality and exits associated with IB versus sales and trading, but with the excessive hours seemingly being worked by many in IB, do some of you wish you would’ve gone into sales and trading, or even the capital markets, route? Just seems that if you could have a 20 or 25 year career in sales and trading,, and you knew that you’d be home by 7:00 pretty much every night, you could build up a nice nest egg while also enjoying a much better work-life balance .
6am to 7pm in a dying biz? no thanks when 10am-4pm in tech exists
How doable is it actually to transition to tech from IB analyst? And do you mean a corporate development/strategy role in tech?
When you say tech do you mean as an engineer or what?
No ragrets
If I didn't do ib I'd do swe. I don't think s&t is that comparable to ib in comp or exit opps which are the main reasons people do ib
But for those who have no coding skills, SWE is not viable alternative, whereas S&T (or cap markets) is still very “finance”-oriented.
