Are there any analysts left to move laterally after their 1st or 2nd year
My Cousin is a HH who focuses mostly on super high quality and niche sell-side roles and some buy-side roles. At a family wedding he was lamenting how little response he is getting from potential candidates as compared to six months to a year ago. Types of roles range from EBs to small entrepreneurial niche firms in FinTech mostly it seems, as well as some Middle Market PEs recruiting offcycle.
I mentioned that it seems like everyone I know is spoken for. Either having gone through a robust recruiting cycle given the overheated economy, or people just sick of the business after the pandemic.
While most of us are focused on the buy-side post analyst, he's always had a robust business in finding people that seek something different and is now just not finding people like he used to.
some of these roles seem to offer better hours
wondering what others think?
Most analysts are lateraling at the 6 month mark after stub or the 1 yr mark which is way earlier than in the past
right, and he's saying that now, at the one year mark, he's not really finding anyone..
It's almost like all these Directors and VPs call the laterals they hired garbage, burned out everyone else and now have no options.
