Banking to Consulting? How did you all do it?
Just curious if anyone has made the transition to consulting recently and if you all could share some of your stories.
I think consulting might be a nice mix where I can step away from the super long hours while still making a nice amount of cash.
I do not have the best education background (generic state school) and I am thinking about doing an MBA to try and make the switch in a year or two. - curious if anyone has any recommendations on this?
I’m at an M7, and there are tons of people switching from finance/banking to consulting. It’ll be a pretty easy path, the story is easy/logical to tell, and your MBA will have all the resources/training you need to be successful.
Think it can be done with a T20/15 MBA? Not really sure if I could ever break into an M7
Yes. Might be more of a Tier 2 rather than an MBB, but definitely still very doable to do the transition. Also, don’t sell yourself short: I guarantee I went to more of a no-name state school. A compelling story goes a long way for applications.
