Thankful for WSO
To the homosapiens of WSO,
I'd like to say a few things.
While many people may sh*t on WSO times for having some toxic ranking systems, innately arrogant comments, and a pretentious user base, I think we sometimes lose sight of the value that this forum gives to people.
For me, it did so much. Now, as you can probably tell from my profile, I don't exactly post on this forum too much. I'm more of a silent user on this platform reading and absorbing as much as I can through the trending posts on this platform. But that alone gave me and so many other users so much.
I recently went through a brutally and, at times, disheartening recruiting process. In fact, I sent my cold email about 1.5 years ago and have been grinding ever since. However, every time I f'ed up a networking call or absolutely sucked balls in an interview, I came back to this forum for support and hope. And with all the BS that exists on this platform, as I sifted through the sh*t, I found nuggets of knowledge that helped me get an EB offer that I'm very (very) happy with towards the end of this summer.
As a lower-middle class POC, I never grew up around finance and, really, never even knew what IB was until college. It seemed like this high class society that everyone was chasing after and, as the saying goes, "break in". So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, thank you.
Thank you for everything. For the bullshit, for the knowledge, and for the users who flame me in the comments when I say something dumb. Thank you so much because I don't think you understand how much it has helped people like me learn and understand the world of finance.
This might be the longest thing I have every written on WSO, so I apologize in advance but TLDR; Thank you WSO for making IB equitable for people like me. Hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving!
Congrats my dude, fuck yeah
Hear hear. I would have never made it without WSO and, coincidentally, a "wrong email" type of reach out from a recruiter at approximately the same time. Changed my life.
Internet is in many ways the great equalizer. The great Nobel prize in physics who went to Harvard repeats the same propaganda he hears from his favourite media just as the allegedly uneducated farmer.
CEOs with 7 figure salaries bow down to hordes of basement dwellers with no regular employment and a variety of mental illnesses.
Tony Stark posts anime themed memes.
Real world barriers and the distance in terms of geography, wealth, social class, education, culture etc. are virtually erased.
Hope you had a great thanksgiving!

Congrats man! Reading through this forum has been super helpful for me, too.
OP, you´re a king for owning up to your shortcomings and not letting them stop you, instead striving to improve every single day. Best of luck at your (well-deserved) place among us, happy thanksgiving and remember - we´re all gonna make it.
Congrats my man, really well deserved. Have a great thanksgiving!
TLDR
hats off on the end result
