Getting started in GE/PE
Hey Senior Monkeys,
My Background:
I am a senior at a target undergrad (HYPW) going into a boutique known for its TMT group. I am extremely interested in Tech GE, but also VC and PE. A mistake that I made in my undergrad was not doing enough research into my SA program (PWM/ST/CF), which required me to re-recruit this year (thank the heavens I got a FT offer). I want to be much more proactive this time around and set myself up the best I can for my future beyond my current FT position.
I understand this may sound presumptive - please don't attack me. But what is the best thing to do now given I still have a half a year before starting my FT position.
Of course, I have been reading up and learning more about the tech fields that I will be covering as much as I can. Additionally, continue to be better at excel and doing models. But beyond doing well in the FT position, would it be wise to start reaching out to alums and others in GE to start building my network? What else could/should I do?
