WSMM or WSO?
Hello all I am trying to break into IB but I realize I’m late in the process. Im currently a junior at a non target with a 3.3 gpa and no relevant experience. I’ve been thinking of joining WSMM but all these reviews are putting me off. (Also the 10k they are asking for😂) The thing I’m worried about is that I feel that I am too late in the process, and I feel like all you guys shitting on the program go to Wharton with 4.5 and started recruiting in the 6th grade. I would appreciate anyone’s input who was in WSMM (or WSO academy as I have interviews with them). And anyone who has broken in, what do you think my chances are?
Literally just prep on your own. The complete WSO course is like $300 max, and the PDFs for WSP / BIWS are available freely online. The fuck you need to be in a "program" for?
Bro do not pay for that bullshit. I was in same position with slightly worse GPA and broke into MM ER right out of undergrad and jumped to a respected LO after.
1) Get the technicals down
2) Network like a mad man, you will need to send plenty of cold emails / linkedin messages
3) join clubs at school / do anything to bolster resume, this will not be a leg up, but rather table stakes
Having any relevant internship experience is crucial, but i cannot discern from your post whether you have had any. This will impact your chances but is not the end of the world if you can sell yourself right.
Thanks for the response. What kind of internship do you recommend I go after? Search funds? Small HF? Also cold emailing these companies is more practical, correct?
What clubs can I join as a junior? Seems like all of the finance ones are only open to freshman/sophomores
I’m a client. Honestly advise against it every time I see one of these posts.
I feel conned to a degree, but there’s nothing I can do at this point the money is gone…
Damn I'm sorry to hear that. Was it because you could find all the info online? And how much did you already know going into the program? Surely it helped a little?
Dont they promise to refund you?
WSMM has a refund option but I don't know the intricacies of it. I don't know how long you would have to wait before getting a refund, or if you can't land any job. Also, I don't know if they could pull something like "you didn't follow the program correctly." The contract would have to be read thoroughly. The refund option also costs $1,000 more.
100% recommend WSO academy. However, they can’t work miracles. It sounds like you need to push your graduation date and get some experience on your resume ASAP. The academy will make you a sharp candidate and point you in the right direction. You’ll definitely boost your chances but it’s up to you to put in the work
