Position/Division Should be in Signature

I think we should encourage people to list their division/title in their signature. WSO has a few gem posters and a bunch of crap and it's tough for new people (or anyone for that matter) to read critically without knowing the background of who is posting (a good example of this is people talking about their own groups in IBD tend to pump it).

I think a lot of this would be avoided if people just added one line to their sig that looked like this:

BB IBD Analyst

or

MM S&T Intern

I definitely agree.

Good one. Its much easier to distinguish helpful posters from crappy ones by the content of their posts. Some of the starred moderators actually don't contribute that much while people without stars often times bring something to the table.

Honestly though, stars don't mean much. It just means you have a work email, not necessarily in banking, trading, or consulting. Could be a freshman pwm intern for all we know, thus adding very little value. More than a few of the stars are unqualified in terms of experience to post on topics (but still do).

I've learned to take the star with a big grain of salt.

People with stars have their work email addresses verified. You are coming to an online forum looking for advice, it is at your own risk whether you listen to it or not.

People don't want their work email reveled for the gold stars, what makes you think people will want to advertise what firm they work in?

hmm not a bad idea
