When it comes to compensation for Tier 2 (T2) consulting associates and beyond in London, the data can indeed be sparse. However, based on the WSO dataset, we can infer some insights into the compensation structure in consulting, which might help you get a general idea, even though the specific focus on London requires some extrapolation.
General Compensation Structure in Consulting: The dataset provides a broad overview of compensation across various levels in consulting. For instance, it mentions that a Consulting Partner can earn an average of $368,000, a Principal $277,000, and so on down to a 1st Year Associate with an average of $118,000. While these figures are not London-specific, they offer a baseline for understanding the progression of salaries in the consulting industry.
Regional Variations: It's important to note that compensation in consulting can vary significantly by region due to factors like cost of living, demand for consultants, and the specific industries served by the office. The dataset mentions that in the Middle East (ME), for example, T2 firms may pay more than MBB up to the Principal level, with up to 30% more depending on the level. This indicates that regional variations are substantial and that London, as a major financial and consulting hub, might offer competitive compensation, potentially aligning with or exceeding these figures in some cases.
Practice Area Impact: The dataset also highlights that being in a "hot" practice area can significantly affect compensation, especially at the partner level. This suggests that associates and those beyond in London, working in high-demand areas, might see higher compensation figures.
Comparisons and Variability: It's mentioned that making accurate comparisons is challenging due to varying titles and structures across firms. However, the dataset does indicate that T2 firms can sometimes offer compensation comparable to or even exceeding that of MBB firms, depending on the year, performance, and specific practice area.
In summary, while specific data for T2 consulting salaries in London for associates and beyond is not directly provided, the insights from the dataset suggest a competitive compensation structure that rewards experience, performance, and specialization. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it might be beneficial to network with industry professionals or consult with recruitment agencies specializing in consulting roles in London.

Most entry level Associate roles range between 45-49K for the base, with 10-20% bonus
Wow UK salaries are horrible
Are you joking? How is this possible I make significantly more in Germany and London is insanely expensive.
Yeah, total joke. Most entry level people I work with have 2-3 need flat mates or a Partner to live with in order to avoid a shitty studio miles away from the city center. Conversely, I know some semi-Juniors (2-3 years in) in Germany making €90-100k base which is nuts. Even in expensive cities like Munich or Frankfurt, that's the equivalent of making £125k in London.
3 years in the US would make 170k, and many of them are in MCOL or LCOL given the large number of MBB offices in the US.
No idea why they pay Europeans so less when the revenue is still high there.
Making 170k in a Low cost area in the US woikd be the fucking dream
I'm from the UK, what cities are deemed to be low cost? Utah? And is the exposure to good work bad?
